Between September 26 and September 29, more than 6000 education professionals descended on Rotterdam to visit the EAIE fair in Rotterdam Ahoy. On Tuesday, September 26, the Urban Leisure & Tourism Lab Rotterdam was one of the site-visit locations!
About sixty education professionals chose to visit the Urban Leisure & Tourism Lab Rotterdam to learn more about how Inholland uses living labs to connect students, researchers and the field. The site visit started with a brief explanation of the Urban Leisure & Tourism Lab Rotterdam by Program Manager Iris Kerst. During the site-visit, however, the focus was not only on ULTL Rotterdam but educational professionals could also get acquainted with the following Inholland living labs at the so-called living lab market:
- Urban Leisure & Tourism Lab Amsterdam
- Sustainable Media Lab
- Sustainable Fashion Lab
- International Music Industry Lab
- Living Lab Lombardijen
- Rechtswinkel010
There was a lot of networking during the living lab market and of course learning from each other! After the participants had visited all the stands, it was time to go into the neighborhood together with the students of the Urban Leisure & Tourism Lab Rotterdam. Prior to the site-visit, the students had prepared tours through Hart van Zuid (the place where the lab is located and also Rotterdam Ahoy) in groups, each with its own theme. For example, there was the dark tourism tour, an architect tour and a street-art tour. For the participants it was interesting to learn about the neighborhood around the lab as well as Rotterdam Ahoy and to learn more about the different perspectives of the students.
