In the middle of the houses of Carnissewijk, lies the beautiful Van Swietenhof. The Van Swietenhof remains such a beautiful green garden because many volunteers roll up their sleeves for it. Especially Bep van Beek and his wife Jos visit the garden a lot, it is right in front of their house. Bep is so proud of his garden and can’t stop talking about it. In the Van Swietenhof, many fun things are organised, such as pumpkin markets, meditation meetings, singing concerts and much more. The Van Swietenhof is truly unique in Carnissewijk and many are very proud of it.

From August 2021 to January 2022, a group of students worked on a concept for Hart van Zuid with a focus on leisure. They did this from and around our lab located on Zuidplein. While they were working, they discovered that they wanted to give something extra back to the community. They decided to go out on the streets and shoot beautiful portraits of entrepreneurs and residents of the neighbourhood. This portrait is one of the portraits from the series: ‘Local heroes from Hart van Zuid’.
