3 questions to Annemarie…
What does your role as Coordinator at the Urban Leisure & Tourism Lab Rotterdam entail?
‘As a lab coordinator, I make the connection between education and the issues that the Lab is dealing with. Whenever questions are raised about education and the possibility of initiating an issue or student project, people turn to me’.
What is your favourite place in Rotterdam and its vicinity?
‘There are various places both in and outside the city that appeal to me. I am particularly fond of the city skyline on the Meuse; it gives you the feeling of being in a metropolis even though Rotterdam is a relatively small city,. I also like to visit Hillegersberg, ‘my’ congenial quarter where I used to live. It’s lovely to have a drink on a terrace by the little lake there in summer. Then again, a picnic at the Kralingse Plas or a walk along the Rotte is also very pleasant. And finally, whether it’s summer or winter, I also like to visit Hoek van Holland’.
What are your dreams for the Urban Leisure & Tourism Lab Rotterdam?
‘I hope that the Urban Leisure & Tourism Lab Rotterdam is going to become a point of liaison between education, the municipality and the business community. It would be great if we, as a lab, could contribute to the solving of some of the urgent issues that many organisations are having to face, but which nobody has the time to give the attention they need. Thanks to the Lab, Hogeschool Inholland can showcase itself even more as a knowledge institute in Rotterdam, particularly as students representing various fields of study work on the assignments’.
