Hey, my name is Niels! Last semester I followed the Urban Leisure & Tourism Lab. Together with my project group I organized a multicultural Dinch where we were able to introduce the Ukrainian community to Kings Day and other people from the neighborhood. We also hosted tours of the Roof Days on our roof terrace and involved neighborhood initiators in this. I have noticed that I have become really strong communicatively and have been able to build up a very nice network. I also gained a nice internship at Rotterdam Festivals. I notice that we mainly ensured that the neighborhood started talking to each other and that there was awareness of the Ukrainian situation. We also introduced organizers within the neighborhood to each other and hopefully many great initiatives will come out of this. A real eye-opener for me was the Dinch where suddenly everyone was standing in front of me. People from the King’s Day team, Ukrainians, people from the neighborhood, teachers and my parents. A nice realization about how you can set up beautiful initiatives with a little effort. Why you should choose the lab? Simple. You can get out into the work field, be set free and let your creative brain crack. Great projects will come out of it and a bond, maybe even a network, that will benefit you for a long time.
